A new report
With two thirds of global oil reserves and an estimated 45% of the world’s natural gas reserves, the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region is rightly regarded as the world’s most influential oil and gas province. Building on previous versions of the Middle East & North Africa Oilfield Services Market Report, the latest edition from industry analysts Douglas-Westwood, provides a detailed country-by-country examination of oil and gas markets across this critical region through to 2014.
Amongst its key findings, the report forecasts that total global expenditure for onshore & offshore drilling & workover markets will grow by more than $10 billion (almost a third) by 2014 across the region. This is despite reduced energy demands brought about by the global recession and a curtailment in OPEC production during 2008 and 2009.
Detailed country-by-country analysis
The report offers a unique set of onshore & offshore drilling expenditure & workover forecasts for Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE and Yemen. It reveals that particularly strong growth is expected from onshore Iraq and offshore Iran – where gas developments will double over the next five years.
The Middle East & North Africa Oilfield Services Market Report 2010-2014, also highlights the region’s prospective offshore production potential and a strong growth in offshore drilling – with Iran & Saudi Arabia responsible for much of the projected increase. It also suggests that Iraq, should investment in the country’s oilfield service sector continue as planned, could see an onshore production growth of nearly 75% to 2015.
MENA market evolution
The report is geared to senior executive needs and assumes no previous reader knowledge of the subject area. It describes the development of the oil and gas industry across the region and gives many examples of the offshore & onshore technologies required to successfully extract oil and gas deposits in each location.
The report also illustrates historic and forecast oil and gas production across the region, the number of wells drilled and drilling rig requirements. In addition, it identifies key operational drilling and oilfield service contractors – listing active drilling rigs and coiled tubing units for each company. A total of 602 onshore drilling/workover rigs are identified.
